In light of the Freon leak that took place at the Durham Marketplace last April, store owner Chuck Cressy and his staff donated a Freon Detector to the Durham Fire Department to better help them determine gas levels if a refrigerant leak were to arise in town again.

Last April a refrigeration problem released Freon gas into the store's compressor room, causing the Durham Marketplace and surrounding businesses to be evacuated for a couple of hours. At the time the Durham Fire Department did not have a Freon detector and were unable to assess the severity of the situation, with this donation they will not have to encounter that problem again.
